Nissan Promises Vast Newness in Next 24 Months

Nissan drivers in Anderson can expect exciting times ahead. Before we turn the calendar over to 2014, Nissan will introduce a total of 20 new products into the global market. That works out to be an average of 10 per year! One thing you'll notice is each serves to fortify the brand's image as an exciting innovator and inspiration for owners to have more fun. And, yes, the new Nissan products will maintain the company's consumer-acclaimed approachable price points, too.

Among the many cars drivers in Anderson can expect to see from Nissan in 2012 are the eNV200 pure-electric van, which recently debuted in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show, the refreshed 2013 Nissan Altima, which is expected to compete on equal ground with best-sellers such as the Accord and Fusion, and an all-new Nissan Altima Hybrid.

Nissan has alluded to another imminent hybrid as well. As far as which model will be chosen to host the eco-friendly powertrain...That remains to be seen. Further down the line, in 2015, Nissan plans to also launch a plug-in hybrid, and by 2020 a fuel-cell vehicle.

That surely doesn't add up to 20 new products. But, if we know Nissan, they're keeping at least a couple of tricks up their sleeves. They likely won't all be focused on hybrid technology, either. Andy Palmer, Head of Marketing & Planning, Nissan explains below.

"I don't think hybridization makes sense everywhere. It works on larger vehicles, D-segment -- same for plug-ins, maybe lower to C-class. But [battery electric] is a good solution in the B and C segments,"1 he says. As Palmer goes on to justify hybridization in sports cars, he is sure to clarify that the benefit of that particular usage comes in added power rather than substantial gains in fuel-economy or CO2 emissions. As a case in point, he points to the Infiniti M featured in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest-accelerating hybrid on the globe.

Naturally some of the newness Nissan promises will find its way in their luxury arm's lineup as well. And given the recent alliance Infiniti forged with German luxury automaker, Mercedes-Benz, whatever its certain  to be spectacular.

Other changes ahead? Nissan plans to evolve its successful commercial vehicle line to include pickups as well as vans such as the NV200 and forthcoming e NV200. On a non-commercial level, the Japanese automaker will be doing some serious revamping of their Titan.

As you can see, a lot is expected to happen fast in 2012 and 2013. Stay tuned to the Piedmont Nissan blog and you won't miss a beat.
