In addition to a 220/240V EV charger (takes ~7 hours) and a 110-120V charger (takes ~20 hours), Nissan also offers LEAF drivers an available 480V quick charger (takes ~30 minutes). In understanding that, given the choice, most people would choose a quick charger, Nissan has invested a significant amount of time and resources into creating in optimized EV quick charger.
The fruits of their labor have proven very worthwhile. They've just unveiled the finished product. And, not only is it faster than their current charging stations. It's easier to install, weatherproof, and far less expensive.

One final thing Piedmont Nissan, serving the greater Anderson area would like to note: The new Nissan EV quick charger is a universal design. That means it isn't built exclusively for the Nissan LEAF and will work with other EVs - Nissan or not.
When will the Nissan EV quick charger be available? Piedmont Nissan can't exactly say for sure, at this time. It is slated to launch in Japan, this November. All signs point to it coming to the U.S., shortly thereafter. But, no specific time frame has been set.
